Blood & RBC

Blood contains various types of cells, one of them are RBCs. A single drop of blood contains millions of red blood cells. Red blood cells are extremely small and look something like tiny, flexible inner tubes, which are constantly traveling.

Red Blood Cells

The normal life span of red cells in circulation is only about 120 days. more than 200 billion cells are normally destroyed each day by spleen & must be replaced. Each rbc contains between 200 and 300 hemoglobin molecules. It is composed of protein and an iron-containing molecule called heme.

 

Erythropoiesis

Erythropoiesis is the production process of RBCs. RBC formation starts at stem cells in Red bone marrow. Stem cell is converted to Proerythroblast then to Erythroblasts to Reticulocyte and finally Rbc.

Deficiency of Iron

Iron deficiency is the depletion of iron stores to the point that red blood cell production is impaired. The most prevalent of which is insufficient iron intake as the result of inadequate nutrition or an imbalanced diet in a population that has increased iron requirements. Cause of iron deficiency is blood loss Blood loss may be due to blood donation.

Deficiency of Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is essential for DNA synthesis. Deficiency causes inhibited nuclear maturation and division. RBC maturation arrest in the bone marrow leads to megaloblastic or pernicious anemia.

Deficiency of Folic Acid

Deficiency of folic acid leads to a type of blood disorder called megaloblastic anemia. Megaloblastic anemia is mainly characterized by larger than normal red blood cells in the blood. Folate deficiency is usually due to folate-poor diets but may also occur in patients with tropical sprue, during pregnancy.

Chemiron to Produce Hemoglobin

Chemiron provides Ferrous Fumerate, which is required to produce Hemoglobin. This Hemoglobin is very essential to fill up Reticulocyte to form mature Red Blood Cells of our blood. Chemiron contains Folic acid, which has functions very similar to those of vitamin B12. Folic acid aids in RBC production by carrying carbon molecule to larger heme molecule Heme molecule is iron containing part of hemoglobin.

Red blood cell (RBC) formation depends on the presence of B6. Vitamin B6 plays a fundamental role in the active transport of minerals across cell membranes. B6 works synergistically or in cooperation with other vitamins and minerals to boost the effectiveness of that vitamin or mineral.
